Weigh Detail on I-75 in Madison County

(Richmond, KY) -- On Tuesday, December 4, the officers from the CVE division of the Kentucky State Police conducted a weigh detail on I-75 in Madison County. The detail was conducted to ensure that safe loading practices are being kept by commercial vehicles. Excessive weight and unsafe load distribution is a contributor to collisions on Kentucky’s highways.

During the detail there were several officers who were able to detect various small violations, but no major violations were found. This can be attributed to better training by the commercial trucking industry, increased awareness by officers across the state on normal patrol and by staging details, such as the one in Madison County, where a high volume of activity can be achieved at one time. There will be an increased amount of patrol during the Holiday season to monitor safe driving conditions for all motorists on Kentucky’s highways.
