Tractor Trailer Accident on I-64

Date of News Release: 11/02/2012

(Grayson, KY) -- On 11/01/2012 around 5:00 pm, the Kentucky State Police received a call from Carter County 911 requesting assistance with an accident involving a tractor trailer hauling medical imaging equipment along I-64 in Grayson. KSP/CVE Officer Jess Staggs responded to the scene along with Fire/Rescue and EMS. The driver of the tractor trailer, Paul Maloney, was traveling westbound when he passed out behind the wheel. His vehicle slid against a guard rail, veered off of the shoulder and flipped onto its side. Mr. Maloney suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene by Carter County EMS to King's Daughters Medical Center as a precautionary measure. The imaging equipment was determined to be non-hazardous. KSP was assisted by Grayson Police, Carter County Sheriff's Office, Grayson Fire Department, Olive Hill Fire Department, Carter County Emergency Management, Boyd County Emergency Management and the Kentucky Environmental Response Team. The accident remains under investigation by Officer Staggs.
