Coal Truck Crash in Laurel County

(London, KY) -- On Tuesday January 17th 2012 around 5 P.M. Ofc. Jerry Jones of the Kentucky State Police-Vehicle Enforcement responded to a non-injury accident involving a coal truck located at the intersection of KY192 and Hal Rogers Parkway in Laurel Co Kentucky.

Upon arrival and through investigation, officers found a 2008 Peterbilt coal truck belonging to Clinch Mountain Transport Inc. of Thorn Hill Tennessee had overturned causing several thousand pounds of coal to spill onto the shoulder of the roadway. The operator 39 year old Charles S. Brooks of Middlesboro was not injured during the accident.

Drugs and alcohol are NOT factors in the collision and Brooks was wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.

Assisting on scene: Ofc. Joey Ray Caldwell, London City Police, Laurel Co Emergency Management. Officer Jerry Jones continues the investigation.
