KSP Investigates Accident On Ky 61 in Adair County

Columbia,Ky ( March 28,2012) -- The Kentucky State Police responded to and accident on Ky 61 at the 4mm on Tuesday morning which shut down Ky 61 for nearly 7 hours.

Preliminary investigation shows that a commercial vehicle hauling hazardous material driven by Robert Cox, 48, dropped of the shoulder of roadway causing him to loose control and overturning. Officer Brockman with KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division was the responding officer to scene. His investigation show that Mr. Cox's vehicle rolled twice before coming to rest in wooded area along roadside. Mr. Cox's vehicle was hauling six different classifications of hazardous material.

Due to hazardous materials involved and serious nature of accident, multiple emergency response teams responded. Those involved in response and clean up were, Breeding Fire Department, Adair Emergency Management, Evergreen Environment Hazmat response team, Department of Transportation, Highway Department , and the State Fire Marshals Office.

Mr. Cox was transported to Westlake Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
