Dangerous Drug Arrest from a Commercial Vehicle

(Georgetown, Ky.) -- On 12/08/2010 Officer Trevor Wilkins with the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division made contact with a Commercial Vehicle Driver following the observation of traffic violations. During the driver interview Officer Wilkins observed indications of possible criminal activity. During the inspection and subsequent investigation Officer Wilkins located both Heroin and Marijuana in the driver compartment of the vehicle. The amount of Heroin located in the vehicle was indicative of the personal use of it from one of the Commercial Vehicle Operators.
The passenger in the vehicle, an employee of the trucking company, was arrested and identified as Willis Carney of Urbana, Ohio. Mr. Carney was held at the Scott County Detention Center for the following charges:
- Possession of Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree (Heroin)
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Officer Wilkins drive to investigate roadside criminal activity is a strong testament to the hard work of the Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and their continued mission to make the highways safer for the motoring public.
