2012 TACT Media Advisory for CVE Region 2

Date of News Release: 11/14/2011

Roll Over Tractor-Trailer

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) -- KSP in conjunction with Louisville Metro Police, Lexington Metro Police, and Boone County Sheriff's office will begin the 2012 Ticketing Aggressive Cars and Trucks (TACT) campaign.

The TACT program is a national campaign to crackdown on motorist driving recklessly around commercial trucks and also truck drivers who violate traffic laws.

TACT is a program that is funded and administered through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Kentucky is just 1 of 11 states that participate in this national campaign to educate and reduce the amount of accidents involving motorist with and around commercial vehicles.

KSP crash statistics indicate that 70 percent of fatal crashes involving commercial vehicles are caused by passenger cars. Last year Kentucky had 8,564 crashes involving commercial vehicle resulting in 93 deaths.

KSP would like to invite you to help law enforcement across the state get the word out and educate motorist on the importance of safe driving on the interstates around commercial vehicles.
