KSP announces results of 3 Day Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Blitz in Jefferson County

(LOUISVILLE, KY) -- On Tuesday October 11th, Captain Daniel Pearman, Kentucky State Police, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division announced that KSP would be conducting a 3 day commercial vehicle enforcement blitz in Jefferson County.
During the blitz 13 officers and 2 troopers' patrolled interstates, highways and city streets looking for driver and equipment violations.
KSP applied their main focus on commercial vehicle violations and passenger vehicles operating carelessly around commercial vehicles.
Captain Pearman stated; "The primary focus of the blitz was to help reduce the overall fatality rates on our highway. We put this blitz together in Jefferson County due to the large number of commercial and passenger vehicle traffic. We hope that the commercial industry and the general public see that our officers are out in high number and will make everyone more alert of their overall driving behavior."
During the 3 day blitz 139 commercial vehicle inspections were completed, of these inspections, 348 vehicle and driver violations were discovered resulting in 39 vehicles and 6 drivers being placed "out of service".
30 trucks were weighed and 16 drivers were cited for being overweight. 110 citations and 58 courtesy notices were issued for additional commercial vehicle violations and 3 arrests were made.
Capt. Pearman added; "I am very pleased with the officer's efforts. With these results we will be conducting additional blitz in Jefferson and surrounding counties in the near future".
