Traffic Crash in Laurel County

(London, Ky.) -- On Thursday March 18, 2010 at approximately 10:39 PM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London received a call of a pedestrian being struck by a tractor trailer at the Flav-O-Rich plant in London Kentucky.

Upon arrival KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Greg Reams determined that a white, 2003, Freightliner, tractor-trailer, operated by Thomas L. Bailey, 50, of London, was backing into a loading dock when it struck and pinned Dalmas M. Bennett, 50, of London, between the trailer and the loading dock.

Mr. Bennett was transported by Laurel County EMS to the Saint Joseph-London Hospital where he was air lifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center, in Lexington, for treatment.

Mr. Bailey was not injured.

No drug or alcohol use is suspected.

KSP-CVE Officer Reams is in charge of the investigation and was assisted at the scene by the officers from the KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division, the London City Police Department, the Laurel County Sheriff's Office and the Laurel County EMS.
