Fatal Traffic Crash in Whitley County

(London, Ky.) - On Monday, May 18, 2009, at approximately 10:53 AM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11, in London was notified of an injury traffic crash on Interstate 75 at the 14 mile marker in Whitley County.
Upon arrival CVE Officer Greg Reams determined that a green, 2006, Freightliner, tractor/trailer, operated by Anthony Keith Hill, 47, of Hartwell, GA was traveling northbound on I-75 when it went crossed the median and struck a black, 2006, Peterbilt, tractor/trailer head-on.
Anthony Keith Hill, 47, of Hartwell, GA, who was operating the Freightliner, received fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley.
William Martin Banks, 50, of Detroit, MI, who was operating the Peterbilt, was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN for treatment of his injuries.
Alcohol and/or drug involvement is not suspected and both operators were wearing their seat belt.
Officer Reams is continuing the investigation and was assisted by officers from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Kentucky State Police, the Williamsburg Police Department, Whitley County Sheriff's Office, the Corbin Police Department, the Williamsburg Fire Department, the Woodbine Fire Department, the Three-Point Fire Department, the Whitley County EMS and the Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley.
