KSP Charges Fayette County Man With Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 9, 2016) - On September 8, 2016, at approximately 7:53 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by the Lexington Police Department, arrested Darryl L. Reed, 50, on charges related to prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor/police officer re: sex offenses.

Reed was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after receiving information that Reed was attempting to entice a juvenile to perform sexual acts in his presence.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Lexington on September 8, 2016. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Reed is currently charged with one count of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor/police officer re: sex offenses. The charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison. Additional charges are expected.

Reed was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
