KSP Plans to Cram their Cruisers
Date of News Release: 12/07/2012
(Frankfort, Ky.) -- Kentucky State Police kicked off their third annual 'Cram the Cruiser' food drive in November and is reaching out to local residents to help with the collection.
KSP Sgt. Rick Saint-Blancard said donations are down a little from last year but he expects an increase as the campaign hits the homestretch.
"This is a busy time of year for everyone, so we are taking this opportunity to remind local citizens that we welcome their contributions," says Saint-Blancard. "The food collected will go to local area food pantry's who are in desperate need of supplies to support families in need."
Saint-Blancard said KSP is accepting donations at two Frankfort locations and will receive food 24 hours a day through December 14th. Drop off sites include KSP Headquarters located at 919 Versailles Road and KSP Post 12 located at 1250 Louisville Road. Food collected at the Headquarters location will go directly to the Franklin County Food Pantry and food collected at Post 12 will go to the other counties it serves, including Anderson, Scott, Shelby, Woodford and Spencer counties.
Suggested donations include canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk and juices. Last year KSP collected 50,931 pounds of food.
