6 State Trooper Project Nets 500 DUI Arrests
Date of News Release: 07/05/2012
(Frankfort, KY.) – Over 500 DUI arrests were made in a two-day multi-agency enforcement campaign called the 6 State Trooper Project. The Kentucky State Police (KSP) joined forces with Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and the Indiana State Police on major interstates on June 29 and 30, in an ongoing effort to combat impaired driving.
KSP accounted for 92 DUI arrests utilizing checkpoints and saturation patrols on major thoroughfares.
"Successful multi-agency enforcement efforts, like the one this past weekend, illustrate the collective power of making our roadways and communities safer for everyone," said KSP Spokesperson Captain David Jude.
“"Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs is a deadly crime," added Jude. "With the recent increase in fatal crashes in Kentucky, we are taking every opportunity to remove dangerous drivers from our roadways."
