CVE Seizes Marijuana At Weigh Station

(Frankfort, Ky.) -- Officers of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division of the Kentucky State Police seized 390 pounds of marijuana during a routine inspection of a tractor trailer truck at the Interstate 65 weigh station in Simpson County on Jan. 25.
Darnell A. Allen, driver and owner of Dooney Trucking and Transport, Inc. of Los Angeles, Calif., was arrested and lodged in the Simpson County Detention Center on charges of trafficking in marijuana more than five pounds and state safety and regulatory violations. No bond was set.
CVE Officer Jeremy Duvall discovered the marijuana during a routine inspection after noticing discrepancies in the contents of the trailer. He was assisted by CVE Sgt. Joseph Conn. The marijuana was found in bundles wrapped in plastic commingled with a load of electronic goods.
Tpr. Bradley Harper, of the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations unit, is continuing the investigation.
The truck was headed north on Interstate 65 from Tennessee at the time of the discovery. Its intended destination is believed to be Indianapolis.
