Kentucky State Police Trial Board Dismisses Sergeant

(Frankfort, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Trial Board, which convened on December 2, 2008, in Frankfort, Ky. to consider administrative charges against Sgt. Corey Buckner, rendered its verdict at approximately 4:13 p.m. on December 2, 2008.
The six-voting member Trial Board panel found Sgt. Buckner guilty of four violations of the Kentucky State Police Standards of Conduct: Honesty (Class A violation), Conformance to Law (Class A violation), Conformance to Law (Class B violation) and Responsibility of Ranking Officers (Class B violation). The charges concerned misconduct involving certain Kentucky State Police Bowling Green post officer training records.
The Trial Board fixed Sgt. Buckner's punishment at dismissal for the two Class A violations of the Standards of Conduct for which he was found guilty and at suspension for 20 days for each of the two Class B violations.
Sgt. Buckner, a seven year department veteran, had been assigned to the Bowling Green post prior to his dismissal from service. Pursuant to KRS 16.150, the verdict of the Trial Board may be appealed to the Franklin Circuit Court.
