Safe Trick-or-Treat Program Scheduled At KSP Headquarters In Frankfort
Date of News Release: 10/29/2007
(FRANKFORT, KY) -The Kentucky State Police will be conducting its eighth annual "Safe Trick-or-Treat" program on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kentucky State Police headquarters, 919 Versailles Road in Frankfort. It is open to the public and designed to provide a secure environment and friendly atmosphere where families can enjoy the holiday in a controlled situation.
To allow as many children to participate as possible, the event will be arranged in a drive-through format. Vehicles will enter the site from the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 and proceed along the one-quarter-mile running track that circles the building. Children will remain inside the vehicles while costumed volunteers hand out treats at 10 to 15 stations along the route. The cars will continue around the track and re-enter U.S. 60 eastbound.
All candy in the program is screened by hand and only individually wrapped items from bags sealed at the factory are used. Additionally, the candy is visually checked and screened with a metal detector to ensure that no foreign matter or contaminant is present.
