Three Die On Kentucky Roadways Last Week (Feb. 12 through Feb. 18)
Date of News Release: 02/19/2007
(FRANKFORT, Ky.) - Preliminary statistics* indicate that three people died in three separate crashes on Kentucky's roadways from Monday, Feb. 12 through Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007.
Two of the fatalities involved motor vehicles, one in McLean County and one in Warren County. The seat belt status of the victims is not known at this time. One of the fatalities involved an ATV in Graves County.
Through Feb. 18, preliminary statistics* indicate that 76 people have lost their lives on Kentucky roadways during 2007. This is 17 less than reported for this time period in 2006. Of the 70 motor vehicle fatalities, 46 victims were not wearing seat belts.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555. Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
*These statistics are still preliminary as KSP waits for all local law enforcement agencies throughout the state to report any crashes and fatalities that may have occurred in their areas.
