Update to Kentucky State Police Trooper Killed
in Motor Vehicle Crash in Pike County

(Pikeville, Ky.) - Kentucky State Police in Pikeville are continuing their investigation into the two-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of Trooper Jonathan K. Leonard, a three year veteran of the Kentucky State Police at Pikeville Post. The collision occurred on December 19, 2006 on US 119 in Sidney, Ky., at 6:20pm(EST).
Preliminary investigation indicates Trooper Leonard was traveling South on US 119 when he attempted to change direction of travel and turned into the path of a 2004 Geo Tracker operated by Eugene Sisco Jr. Mr. Sisco was also traveling South on US119 at the time of the collision.
The preliminary investigation also revealed Leonard was not wearing his seatbelt.
The investigation into the collision is continuing by the Kentucky State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.
