Date of News Release: 08/24/2006
(FRANKFORT, Ky.)--- Kentucky State Police Commissioner Jack Adams today presented U.S. Congressman Ed Whitfield (R-Ky) with a Commissioner's Aide de Camp award in appreciation for Whitfield's continued support in the fight against methamphetamine abuse in Kentucky.
Commissioner Adams made the presentation at Post 2 Madisonville, which lies in Whitfield's First Congressional District. KSP Maj. Mike Sapp, commander of the Special Enforcement Troop, thanked the congressman for his efforts.
"Congressman Whitfield has been instrumental in providing the KSP with federal monies to assist with officer training, overtime funding and equipment purchases to fight the spread of methamphetamine within the Commonwealth," said Sapp. "This is a small token of our appreciation for all his hard work."
Whitfield was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1994 and is serving his sixth term as U.S. representative for the 34-county district.
