Impaired Driving Enforcement And Highway Safety Awards To Be Announced

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -The impaired driving enforcement efforts of 185 officers and 164 law enforcement agencies from throughout the state will be recognized at a special awards ceremony scheduled for 10:00 A.M. (EST) on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Lexington.

Kentucky State Police Commissioner Mark Miller and Connie Beasley, regional program manager with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration in Atlanta, will present the awards.

Three other awards will also be presented. Angela Leigh, executive director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving Kentucky, will present an award to the officer making the most impaired driving arrests between Oct. 1, 2004 and Sept. 30, 2005. Jose Sepulveda and Tony Young, of the Federal Highway Administration, will present the two Awards for Excellence in Highway Safety.
