KSP Answers Call for Additional Assistance In Mississippi
Date of Release: 11/26/05
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 26, 2005) - Thirty (30) Kentucky State Police troopers, headed to Mississippi, will meet on Sunday, November 27, at the I-65 southbound lane rest area (mile marker 29) near Bowling Green at 7 a.m. (CST) to begin their trip.
Mississippi officials have requested additional assistance from the Kentucky State Police, which sent two contingencies of troopers to Mississippi to assist state and local law enforcement in the days and weeks following the destruction of Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005. Plans are underway for a fourth detail to be sent to the gulf region in approximately a week to relieve these 30 troopers.
KSP's mission is simple...to support local law enforcement agencies providing law enforcement services to the communities devastated by the storm.
